Call For Coaching Positions (2012 Midget Boys) Softball Newfoundland and Labrador is now accepting applications for the position of Head Coach for the following Provincial All Star Teams that will represent Newfoundland and Labrador at the respective 2012 Softball Championships in August: Midget (U18) Boys Canadian Championships Frederiction, NB August 6-12 Midget (U18) Boys Eastern Canadian Championships Prince Edward Island Late August Softball Newfoundland and Labrador will also accept applications from individuals interested in being considered for Assistant Coach and/or Team Manager positions. Applicants should complete the same application as those applying for Head Coaching positions and also highlight qualifications (i.e., certifications, teams coached including other sports, etc.) that may be relevant to the position they are applying. Applicants should be fully certified or be in the process of completing NCCP Level 2/Introduction to Competition for softball. Experience coaching in a high Provincial sports program is an assest, although not mandatory depending on other qualifications or professional development successfully completed. Great News! Men’s Softball Returning To Canada Summer Games In 2017!!! History of Softball at Canada Summer Games Softball has been included in the Canada Summer Games since the inaugural event held in Halifax/Dartmouth in 1969 as a mixed sport (male and female). Starting in 1981, the sport was split into a male and a female category. Strikeout For Men’s Softball For 2009 Canada Summer Games Despite many efforts to keep the male category on the program, it was decided to drop the male component of the game for the 2009 Canada Summer Games, but the female category remained included. Men’s Softball Returning To Canada Summer Games in 2017 The Canada Games Council have released the results of their 2017 Summer Games selection process. Both Women’s and Men’s Softball were selected for the Games! On-Line Level IV Umpires Certification Clinic (Spring 2012)

On-Line Level IV Umpires Certification Clinic (Spring 2012) Softball Canada is pleased to announce that an on-line Level IV National Umpires Certification Clinic will once again be held in the spring of 2012. The clinic dates are tentatively set for five Sunday’s in March and April. Each of the five two-hour sessions, led by experienced Softball Canada instructors, will focus on the psychology of officiating, advanced game management techniques and mechanics and much more. To be eligible to participate, candidates must be a fully certified Level III umpire for at least two years and receive a positive endorsement from their provincial or territorial organization. Successful completion of the Level IV clinic results in Level IV Theory certification. A subsequent successful evaluation at a U-18 (M or F) or U-23 (F) Fast Pitch or Senior Women’s Slo-Pitch Canadian Championship will leads to full Level IV certification. Clinic Details: Registration fee is $175 and includes a Level IV manual, access to the Adobe Connect virtual classroom platform and all other resources. Participants will require access to a computer (Windows or Mac) with high-speed Internet connectivity, a mic/headset and a webcam to participate.
