Don Scott started the game on the mound for Canada. He went two innings, gave up one run (earned), surrendered three hits, no walks and fanned two. Paul Koert came on in relief in the third inning. He went 3.1 innings of scoreless relief, surrendered just one hit, no walks, hit one batter and fanned six. Sean Whitten (1-0) came on in relief with one out in the 6th inning. (Auckland, New Zealand) The Canadian Men’s National Team is ready to compete at the ISF XIII Men’s World Championship from February 28 to March 9, 2013. Triple Play Website Launch

(Ottawa, ON) Softball Canada along with the Player Development Working Group is pleased to announce that the Triple Play website has officially launched. The website can be accessed by visiting: www.tripleplaysoftball.ca The Triple Play website aims to engage athletes in the Learning to Train, Training to Train and Training to Compete stages of Long Term Athlete Development, as well as their coaches and parents. The website contains content for each of the three user groups and softball fans in general. Players can read softball stories, access performance tips, play games and enter contests.  Another major feature for players is the Profile and Rewards Program, which allows players to collect online reward badges, and build an online softball resume.   Coaches will have access to Softball Canada’s new Skills Improvement Program. Coaches will also be able to recognize their player’s achievements throughout the season with the Triple Play Rewards program. A job description for the Head Coach position JMNT follows. In addition to the traditional responsibilities the Head Coach will work in collaboration with the Manager – National Teams and the Men’s National Team Committee (MNTC) to design and implement a multifaceted high performance program. The ideal candidate will be certified at Level 4 (or actively working towards it) under the National Coaching Certification Program or have equivalent experience/education. Ideally, she/he will have experience coaching and/or playing at the international level. This position is financially supported by Sport Canada. Deadline for application is March 18, 2013. 2015 Pan Am Games

Source: Softball Canada (Ottawa, ON) Softball Canada is extremely pleased to announce that both Men’s and Women’s softball have been added to program for the 2015 Pan American Games, which will take place from July 10-26, 2015 in Toronto, Ontario. The Men’s and Women’s softball events will each feature six teams with 15 player rosters. Exact scheduling and venue details will be announced at a later date. Men’s softball first appeared at the 1979 Pan American Games in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and Canada went on to win all seven gold medals awarded at the event culminating with the 2003 Pan American Games.
