1972 Wednesday, April 12th
The Founding Meeting of the St. John’s Metro Umpires Softball Association Was Held at Bennett Brewery (Carling O’Keefe) On Sudbury Street.

1973 Tuesday, August 14th
An Award Was Initiated In Memory Of Umpire Jack McCarthy Who Passed Away On Thursday, August 9th, 1973 At The Age Of Fifty One Years.

This Award Was To Go To A Player On An Annual Basis Judged The Most Gentlemanly From A League Which Metro Officiated.

Duey Fitzgerald Named the First Honorary Life Member of the St. John’s Metro Umpires Softball Association.

Marje Keough and Gert Delaney are the 1st Females to Umpire A Provincial Senior “A” Championship.

Bev Crummell the 1st Female Umpire to Officiate a Game in the St. John’s Senior Mens Softball League. Big Bens 5 vs. Junior 50’s 3.

Ray Noel Named Honorary Life Member of the St. John’s Metro Umpires Softball Association.

Bev Crummell appointed as the 1st Female President of the St. John’s Metro Umpires Softball Association.
