Update: 2017 Men’s Provincial

Update: 2017 Molson Senior Men’s Fastpitch Provincial The 2017 Molson Senior Men’s Fastpitch Provincial Will Resume On September 29 to October 1. Statement From Softball NL Hi Folks, As a result of bad weather last weekend, the Men’s Provincials had to be rescheduled. We reached out to the Head Coaches, as well Bill Barron reached out for input. We received numerous emails and calls from many individuals. Needless to say, there were varying responses and suggestions on how best to move forward. Responses were either strictly personal, a team agreement, support for Softball Canada programs and opportunity for Senior League players to participate at an elite level, desire to have it over and really don’t care just make the decision. We all realize (at least we think so ) that the Men’s Provincials is the showcase event for Softball NL. Even though we may not be doing a great job to promote this event, we do intend to by working in liaison with you to change this in the coming months. As a result, we want to provide a competitive opportunity where the best play the best. If the championship was to be rescheduled for this weekend the St John’s Senior League is missing players that have been provided the opportunity to participate for Softball Canada at an elite event. We can agree to either support them or pass...

Message From Softball NL

With the deepest feelings of sympathy and a profound sense of loss Softball Newfoundland and Labrador Association extends our sincere condolences to the families of the tragic accident that occurred on our highway yesterday. We also keep the CBS Softball community in our thoughts and prayers as they have lost 3 of their members. As you know, life is very precious and promising yet fragile and we cannot prepare ourselves for such a tragic and unexpected loss. Although no words can really ease the loss you bear please be assured you are very close in every thought and prayer of all of us. In life the love we share is our bond that will eventually ease the pain when we part. May your memories of love shared replace the hurt in your hearts. May the peace which comes from those memories of love shared comfort you in the days ahead and give you the strength to heal. Softball...

Message From CBS Minor Softball

It is with a heavy heart that we announce that we have lost three loyal members of our softball family, as a result of a traffic accident. The executive has set up a grief counseling session this evening from 4:00-8:00pm at the All Saint’s Parish Hall (upstairs) for any parent, coach, or player who wishes to drop by and have a chat, whether it be with a friend, councilor, or member of the church, etc. It’s times like these where we need to come together as one as we deal with such a tragedy. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family. CBS Minor Softball...

Good News Story

Tournament created special bonds By Pete Fisher, Northumberland Today (Wednesday, August 16, 2017)                   Thirteen-year-old Tommy Dyson with a signed Newfoundland provincial flag, sweatshirt, bat and ball gloves the team gave him. PETE FISHER/Northumberland Today COBOURG – The 2017 Canadian U16 Boys Fast Pitch Championships concluded Sunday in Cobourg. The Belmore Sting, as previously, came out victorious over the Shallow Lake Red Devils in the championship final. Brenda Whitehead, chair of the host committee, said the teams had an exceptional time visiting around the area when they weren’t playing and special bonds were created on-and-off the field. Whitehead said one important special relationship formed were local younger players that were placed on some of the teams as bat boys. Tommy Dyson, 13, who is a player in the Cobourg Legion Minor Softball Organization peewee/bantam house league program, was one of them. Whitehead is his coach and when the team from Newfoundland called and asked if Cobourg could provide a bat boy, Whitehead knew he was the person for the job. “It became a tremendous relationship. He became part of their team,” Whitehead said. “He traveled all around town with them all week long, hung out with them at the hotel. Tommy was really part of the team and was embraced by them and at the same time he learned some new skills watching...
