Kelly’s Pub Junior Canadians Named 2009 Team of the Year

 

 

 

 

 

Golden Performance At Nationals

The Kelly’s Pub Junior Canadians finished the 2009 Canadian Junior Men’s Fastpitch Championships with a 9-2 record and defeated Nova Scotia 4-2 in the Championship Game.

The Gold Medal performance was the club’s second in four years, to go along with a Silver Medal and a strong fourth place finish.

Four members of the team earned Individual Honours at the 2009 Canadian Junior Men’s Fastpitch Championships:

Mark Lewis (Top Batter .522BA and All-Star First Base)
Justin Gill (All-Star Shortstop)
Shane Boland (All-Star Second Base)
Mike Noftall (MVP-Playoff Round).

Justin Gill and Mike Noftall were both finalists for the 2009 St. John’s Male Athlete of the Year, but that honour went to Hockey Player Luke Adam.

Softball Newfoundland & Labrador would like to Congratulate Shane Boland, Sean Cleary, Justin Gill (Finalist) and Mike Noftall (Finalist) on being nominated for the 2009 St. John’s Male Athlete of the Year.

Local Success

The Kelly’s Pub Junior Canadians became the first junior team to win the Provincial Senior Men’s Championship, and also laid claim to the 2009 St. John’s Day Tournament.

In Molson St. John’s Senior Men’s Fastpitch League play, the Kelly’s Pub Junior Canadians finished second in the Regular Season Standings with a 16-8 record and were runners-up in the League Final.
