Pomeroy – Sport NL Scholarship Recipient

The 2019 Sport NL Scholarship Awards were presented today (Tuesday, May 21) at the Johnson Geo Centre in St. John’s.

The Sport Newfoundland Labrador Scholarship Program provides financial assistance to qualifying amateur athletes, coaches and officials, who are enrolled in a post-secondary institution, to assist in off-setting the costs of training and competition.

The program has been in place for over 25-years, with thousands of dollars being distributed to deserving students around the province.

Sport NL also presents the Frank T. Butler Memorial Scholarship, valued at $1,500. Frank Butler was vital to the development of athletics at Memorial University, and played an integral part in developing inter-university sport experience across Canada.

Jordan Pomeroy (Placentia) Is A Second Year Kinesiology Student At Memorial University In St. John’s.

In 2018, Jordan Represented Canada At The WBSC Junior Men’s Softball World Championship in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan And Helped Canada To A 4th Place Finish. He Also Represented Newfoundland Labrador At The U19 Men’s Canadian Fastpitch Championship (5th Place), The U23 Men’s Canadian Fastpitch Championship (7th Place) And The Senior Men’s Canadian Fastpitch Championship (1st Place).

In 2019, Jordan Will Be Participating In The St. John’s Senior & Intermediate Men’s Fastpitch Leagues, The Hill United Chiefs Invitational In Simcoe, ON (June 28-30), The Boy’s Of Summer Invitational In Denmark, WI (July 12-14), The ASA National Championship In St. Joseph, MO (July 18-21), The ISC World Tournament In Denmark, WI (August 10-17) And Will Be Representing Newfoundland Labrador At The U23 Men’s Canadian Fastpitch Championship In Saskatoon, SK (July 30-August 04) And The Senior Men’s Canadian Fastpitch Championship In Grande Prairie, AB (August 28-September 01).
