Sullivan Named Umpire-in-Chief

Softball Newfoundland & Labrador is pleased to announce the appointment of John Sullivan to the position of Umpire-in-Chief (UIC) for Newfoundland Labrador.

John, a Level IV umpire, began his umpiring career in Alberta in 2004 after many years experience as an active player. John has umpired in league play in Alberta, Ontario and Newfoundland Labrador. John has umpired in Provincial Championships in Ontario and in Newfoundland Labrador, and in National tournaments at the Midget and Junior levels. John umpired in the Legends tournament in Kitchener, Ontario last summer, a tournament that featured some of the top softball players from countries all over the world.

In his seven years as an umpire, we believe that John has demonstrated his eagerness to learn and to contribute as an umpire and we believe that he will bring that same enthusiasm to our Board.

Our Board has stated in the past that a good umpiring program is crucial to the betterment of our sport and, to that end, we are committed to supporting all umpires in our Province who are willing to work with us to make it happen.
